I shut it today, and now i can't get it open. its not locked. I pulled off the door panel, and all the linkage is still hooked up. The door isnt stuck, it actually jiggles a little bit if you try to push or pull on it. But the mechanism won't open. Any ideas on how to get it open?

can you pull on the rod that releases the door latch? Is the latch moving at all when you try to open it? Is the latch jammed? Have you tried 'opening' the latch with your fingers rather than pulling ont he rods that attach to the linkages?

on my first 67, one day my door decided not to close. driving down the highway, and it just slowly swung open. the retaining spring which kept pressure on the jaws had fallen off (8 years ago, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was). Maybe the spring came loose and worked its way into the mechanism, jamming it shut???

This happened to mine a few days ago. You have to push on the handle button outside fast a few times and it should work. This happens to my car all the time.

With the door panel off, you should see a rod covered with fabric running horizontally. Grab the rod and move it forward. The door should open.

If it does then the rod has disconnected from one or both handles. If not then the clip broke and the rod has disconnected from the latch. You can reach in and pull the latch where it connected to the rod (forward) and open the door.
