My first time @ the track!

Okay, well last night was my first trip to the track. I posted a thread about where to launch with a stock GT on street tires but I didn't get an answer until it was too late. So, I decided to wing it.

My first run.....

I put my psi down to 30 ( I typically run 45 ) and didn't do much of a burn out. Well, when I staged and launched I spun like crazy and when I shifted to 2nd it bogged down on me. Here's the #'s...

R/T - .425
60' - 2.632
330 - 6.959
1/8 - 10.298
MPH - 73.68
1000 - 13.154
1/4 - 15.546
MPH - 92.45

My second run.....

Left the tire psi the same and did a wicked good burn out. To all you nay sayers, burning out with my street tires made a HELL of a difference! Here's the #'s...

R/T - .381
60' - 2.120
330 - 6.021
1/8 - 9.528
MPH - 76.00
1000 - 12.045
1/4 - 14.390
MPH - 96.09

My third run.....

Nothing changed. Here's the #'s...

R/T - .546
60' - 2.041
330 - 5.931
1/8 - 9.175
MPH - 75.75
1000 - 11.966
1/4 - 14.317
MPH - 95.92

What mods do you have done to the car?

the last was a low 9 second pass (1/8th) and not too bad. A little more practice and a set of drag radials and Im sure you can get in the 8s (1/8th) mile.

Very good run! First time and pulled a 2.0 60ft on street tires... NICE

Only mods are my BBK L/t's , custom x-pipe , and flowSOUND mufflers.... everything else is stock. I went just to get a baseline before I do my TFS top end, t-body, injectors, etc etc.

That's what I'm about to do too. Going Ford Motor Sport top end though. We will hopefully see the 12's one day

Good times for a first time out......2.0 60' on a street tire is respectable. Some DR's and practice and you will see the 13's

set your tire pressure at like 20 and see if that helps any further

street tires arent slicks, their sidewalls are not meant to flex under pressure therefore dropping pressure would only result in decreased contact patch (hurting traction) and more rolling resistance (hurting your trap speed).

Wow those are some good 60's!! I run the same tires in 255s and the best I could pull was a 2.2!

dont doubt because he might drive better than you also, he might have been at a better elevation, better conditions, humidity, temperature, thousands of factors, so its not that unforseeable. 275mm is ALOT of tire, regardless whether its ****ty or not, and its not a lo pro (40) meaning he still has some sidewall to move around. 2.0s are def possible.
