you see, i have an 00 gt and the headlights are the clear oem ones. they light perfectly and all, but they are now a hideous yellowish color. they really throw off the whole look of the car. so today, a friend of my dad's saw my car for the first time and informed us that its like a layer of the healight plastic burnt by the sun and that all you need is some rubbing compound. supposedly that the compund takes that layer off and itll look like new. is this true, because i dont wanna buy rubbing compound for nothing. does anyone have any other suggestions? for sure, the healights arent condensated and i have noticed that every time water gets on the lights (ie when i wash it), they look new. can somebody help me out?

Just used a kit from www.50resto.com
Headlight & Plastic Resurfacer Kit. Go to the site and type CCP-13007 into the site search box it is $31.95 plus S&H. My 98 looked really bad and with this kit they look almost new again if I used the extra compound in the kit and a drill they would look perfect, but I don't want to burn the lens. This kit comes with everything you'll need and it is all done by hand unless you want to use the extra compound and a drill with a sanding disk.

I've never heard of 99+ lights going yellow. Actually, I've never seen any kind of clear lens headlight go yellow, only those crappy dinosaur-era lenses like on the 98's and earlier.

I have looked everywhere for this stuff and can't find it anywhere. Is it called "Plastix" (or something similar)?

you need to contact meguires direct...or find a local meguires store..not the local autozone. they sell a 2 step cleaner and polisher...it works great... once you do your lights, take out your gauge cluster and do the clear cover... will look like new.. i think the stuff retails for like $10.00 each.

you know, i wanted to do this but its expensive and im broke. i gotta make the best of what i got i guess. another question, has anyone made the 99'/00' clear lights look smoked? like painting them a bit or tinting or something? i really want that smoked look but with my headlights, theyre still good.

Advanced Auto Parts here in Florida stocks this stuff - that's where we got it.

My friend tinted the lenses on his RSX. I don't know the specifics of it, but he basically separated the clear plastic from the rest of the headlight, and baked it in the over. Looks awesome, but I'm sure putting them back together is a PITA. If it's not sealed right, they'll probably fog up and get moisture in them.
