with the demise of JMC I thought this might be useful for some other people who want to put a hydraulic throwout bearing in their early mustang. i purchased the 1400 series bearing from McCleod and the Willwood master cylinder as well. i made the hyd. line and bought a 5/16 rod end from summit to connect it to the pedal. i cut a section of the firewall out and welded in a new piece for mounting the master cylinder, cutting of the firewall may not be required on some cars. with this setup i did not have to use a remote reservoir. i use a small piece of sheet metal to reinforce the mounting of the master from the inside of the car. i still have to bleed the master line and get it adjusted, but so far so good.

I also got screwed by JMC. I fabricated a bracket for my CNC 7/8"external push slave for my Tremec 3550 and made a firewall reinforcing flange for my 3/4" master. I'm surprised nobody else saw the demand for these kits and sells them.

I have a very similar set up using the McLeod Hyd. throw out bearing and the slave cylinder. I have been very happy with is especailly having the threaded rod to be able to adjust pedal height. It has a very new car feel to it and I have not had any chattering issues for a change.

Is your clutch pedal extremely hard to push down? Mine is, I have a similar setup but my rod is connected too low on the clutch pedal.

Whats the gauge for down there by the mc?

Make sure the MC isn't in a bind, or that will ruin it in a hurry.

by extremely hard, what exactly does that mean? i have the jmc setup for my toploader and it seems a little hard to press to the floor. i guess i should make sure it is lined up well (from pedal to mc).

I have not experienced the same issues with a hard pedal but have to agree its more likely an issue of leverage.

Very nice, looks similar to the kit I just received from Cobra Automotive. My kit also uses a 3/4 master cylinder, but is made by Tilton.

Is that a McLeod bellhousing? Have any pics of the throw-out bearing? I'm asking because I have the same bellhousing, but haven't installed mine yet.

sorry, been away for a while. the pedal is a bit hard, not too bad though. its basically due to lack of leverage. i had to connect the master about 1 inch lower than the original location. i've driven cars that are alot worse. it is a ford racing bellhousing which is made by mcleod. i don't think i took any pics of the TB, i'll check. i should be taking it out for its maiden voyage this weekend. hopefully all will work correctly.

fyi, someone posted a message about a leaking MC. i too had this issue and it was the o-ring on the reservoir. i replaced it and it is now fine.

just a quick update, i 've put about 30miles on it and so far all is good. it really engages and operates very smoothly. very happy with the conversion thus far. can't wait to get my 500+ miles on it so i can really see what its got.

Yes. Hyd Clutch M. Cylinder + Hyd T/O Bearing here.

Me too. I have JMC hydraulic with power brakes. Do some research on this forum, you should find a lot of threads on the subject. You will need to get an OEM style Bendix booster in order to fit both. That is what I used and it works great.
