Here is what I have been up to over the winter. Started with an all stock 2005 engine bay. BORING!!! I wanted to make it more presentable without having the nightmare of polishing everything. I already have that nightmare!!!!!

Anyway, I painted everything below the intake flat black, including the valve covers, timing cover and alternator. Total opposite direction from the 87, but it is my wife's car and she actually drives it.

Painted the engine covers to match the car and replaced every rubber hose with stainless braid. I hid as many of the wires as I could without getting to crazy.

I also purchased the radiator extensions which really finish off the front end if you ask me.

I think it looks much more presentable. Now I have to detail the crap out of it and get it ready for Carlisle as the 87 is getting a break from the trip this year.

Here are the pics. Excuse the dust on it.

Wow... that looks really good. It really cleans up the engine bay.

You did the paint yourself? Did you have it mixed for you and then rattlecan it on there? Also, i really like what you did with the strut towers what are those?

The strut covers are made by Stainless Steel Inserts. I painted all the black with spray cans. It is flat black so I just used what they sell at autopart stores.

I had the covers painted by a friend of mine at his shop.

I bought all the hose from eBay. I can send you the eBay sellers info if you are interested.

that sure looks like a pain to maintain (no pun intended!). Do you showcase your engine bay a lot?? If you do, then that warrants painting it inside

I added the black radiator extensions. You are right about how much such a simple change improves the underhood appearance.
Your car looks great. I want to do something also to my fuel rail covers. I have the factory plenum cover and may just go with matching covers.
Your car is show ready.

Outstanding underhood look! A huge change over stock, yet not way out of control and blingy!

The painted blue to match covers that cover the top of the headlights. I've thought about getting them for mine, but not sure how they'd fit with the WMS ram air tray
