My car hessitates to turn on a cold start. The spark cables are both brand new and original motorcraft. The only thing i havent changed has been the coil packs which hopefully thats the problem. My car turns on regular when its still warm, only on cold starts it hessitates to turn on. Also when im on the freeway and i punch it , it hessitates to take off. Some of my friends say its the fuel pump and some say its the coils what do you guys think. The fuel filter has been also changed so i know its not that.

Possibly, clogged fuel injectors? You said the wires are new, but what of the condition of spark plugs what did you set your gap at? Do you have a timing adjuster or chip? Maybe timing is advanced too far?

My car hesitated to start on colder days. Turned out to be the battery, it may be going dead on you, hence the reason it starts fine when warm. The heistation on the freeway sounds unrelated.

I would check your fuel pressure when the engine is cold. See what you got. Also where are you located? Its possable it could have something to do with winter blend fuels. I know we have alot of customers coming in with ping concerns that ford says is normal with a winter blend fuel. Also check tp sensor for glitch if you get hesitation on accel. Hopefully this is helpfull.

Ok

The spark plugs, spark wires, battery, starter, alternator have all been checked and they are good. DO you guys think its something with the coil packs they are stock and my car has 110 thousand miles. I heard these mustangs came with weak coil packs and ignition unlike the 99+ stangs

If you are that set on checking your coil packs, use a Kv probe to test if they are firing when the engine is cold. I don't think that is your problem though.

as far as the cold start thing i am not for sure, but ask anyone with one of these cars or do a search for the hesitation at highway speed.

there is a slight delay then it kicks in, every 96-98 gt i have drove has been this way, i don't know why, just a crappy design i guess.

now if it is excessive have it checked out or just get a lower rear gear. like 4.10's.

get a battery with more cold cranking amps. The stock one has like 550 or something. My stock one tested good but i got a new one anyway and now it starts fine.
