I've recently found out I had a short (My battery would die overnight). After determining it wasn't any of the fused circuits, I put an ammeter between the distrobution block and each individual wire connected to it. One of the wires was drawing 5 amps when the car was off. I disconnected that wire. The car runs fine without it. I want to know if I can leave it disconnected or will I regret it sometime.

The wire is a homemade wire that connects the distrobution block to two (possibly 12 gauge) black OEM looking wires. Those wires go under the battery tray, then I cant trace them from there.

Anybody know what this wire might be? I'm thinking it should narrow it down a fair bit if the car runs good without it.

Make sure that the alt is still charging the battery. Check everything in the car to see if it all works. If everything you can think of still works, I would not worry about it. It would bug me a bit, I would want to know what it is too. Look at the blk OEM looking wires that you were talking about. Do they have any stripes? you may have to clean them off to see.

I just realized that for some reason my battery light is on. The battery is still well above 12 volts. I'm wondering if that wire is somehow related to the light.

Turns out that wire I took off was the alternator wire.

My best guess right now is that my alternator has some sort of an internal short thats drawing current when the car is off.
