nascar style rims on 65?

well now that my suspension is done...im in the market for wheels. ive been looking at the american hopsters, then i started thinking about going the cheaper route...nascar style rims...ive just never seen them on a 65 body style. does anybody have these wheels on their car? or have pictures, websites, etc that i can check them out. thanks. suggestions are welcome too

i was thinking black but red may look pretty kewl too...im pretty much open right now since i havnt seen them on a stang yet

I think fat black steel rims would look really aggressive on a 65. Go for it

I think that would really only work if you were going for a Trans Am style look for your car. JMO, though.

yeah, I don't think it would look right on the typical street car. However, they would look cool if the rest of the car had a trans-am theme. Say it had a pretty low suspension, shelby 'r' valence on the front, minimal chrome---you get the idea. If you get them and don't like 'em, just sell 2 of 'em and keep the other two to mount slicks on for the track.

I was thinking body color stel wheels and dog dishes. Anyone know where to get 16x8 steel wheels, and how much?? Maybe even 15x8s.

what other suggestions to you guys have for some nice looking rims for my car without spending a grand on just the rims. keep sending me pics of the nascar style if you can. any pics will do...the more i look at the better idea i have for what i want.

I went with 14x7 stang steelies with the trim rings and dog dish caps on my 69/351c. This is going to be a very plain car with no fake side scoops and blacked out panels front and rear. I plan to be a bit different than the average 69.

I think the Nascar style would look good if they blend with the rest of the car

By Nascar, I assume you mean steel wheels? I went for the el cheapo setup on my 67. I had 14x7 wheels made and went with some 68 dog dish hubcaps. Personally, I like how it looks. I always toy with adding trim rings but never seem to find the ones I like I am running 215-60-14's on the fronts and 245-60-14's on the rear. I believe the wheels cost me $35 each to have made (I supplied the centers). That was 12 years ago. If I had to do it again, I would probably go bigger.

I thought someone came out with large diameter steel wheels? I would try Specialty Wheels in Sandy Oregon or there is a Place in Sacramento or Fresno that may have some as well. Unfortunately the place here in Portland, that did my wheels is no longer in business

BillGear (on this forum and the VMF) has some on his 66 (well, they are on the car when he's on the track). I think it makes the car look pretty darn mean (which it is - especially with that crazy man behind the wheel!).
Here's a link to a picture of it at Sears Point.

One thing to keep in mind is that not all of the steel wheels are appropriate for the street. Many are lightweight and aren't up to the rigors of pothole jumping! Check before you buy.

US Wheel has them, which you can get through Summit, but I don't know if they have any with the four-hole pattern.

For my 67 FB, I went with 16 x 8 steel rims from Coker Tire, www.Coker.com. They call them "bare smoothies" and you see them a lot on street rods. I painted them white to match the car and went with 7" police caps. Don't have a pic yet. Nice thing about these wheels is that you can order custom backspacing at no extra cost - just takes longer. My fronts are 4.75" bs and the backs are 5" bs. and were ~$78 each.
