Natural or ribbed?

OK- now that I have your attention, here's the problem. I have a March A/C delete kit and I've thrown two serpentine belts in as many months (while racing at the track). After reading through many threads, I've come across two alternatives:

1) Use Ford A/C delete kit. With my Vortech YS trim S/C, this will require (most likely) different sized PS and WP pulleys. A lot of work, but perhaps worth it to avoid the "push up" tensioner that March creates.

2) I've noticed that a few have modified their Ford tensioner pulley so it pushes up from the stock location. However, they switch to a ribbed pulley when they do so. Right now, my tensioner pulley on the March delete is smooth. Switching to a ribbed tensioner pulley might be an easier fix. Could the smooth pulley be the source of my problems? Any racers using a push up that have had their belts last? Any ideas on part numbers for a ribbed tensioner pulley?

Finally, there are two possible settings for the March A/C delete as far as mounting the tensioner. I use the setting that angles the tensioner down more. Would I benefit from using the other mounting hole, which would bring the tensioner more upwards and add more tension to the belt? Or would this just create excess tension on the accessories?

what's with all these pervert thread titles to get attention these days?

anyways, have you checked the alignment of the belts? If they're slightly off line with eachother for some reason that could be your problem. It sounds like you've got a flex area somewhere that's flexing under load and causes your belt to loosen and come off. I'd give the tensioner relocation thing a try and see how it runs. Worse thing that would happen that i can think of is your belt would either throw off or break, either one not anything different than what you're already dealing with.

I dont know either...I just dont respond in them anymore...
Well - seeing as my previous post was ignored, I thought I'd try something that would maybe get people to take a look inside, and it accomplished that - didn't it?? As for being perverted, well - I'm far from that, and don't condone it. Once you read the contents, you can clearly see that there is a double meaning; so in a way, the perversion is partly in the mindset of the reader.

Sorry for the flame - I know I'm being passive aggressive, but I feel like crap today and you pushed my button :(

If people know the answer to your question they will tell you, just because you come up with a creative title doesnt mean people will all of a sudden have an answer for ya....

I agree with the pulley allignment issue. This can lead to shredded or thrown belts so easily. A guy at my work actually has a tool for this, using a laser, but it isn't that nessasary for cars like ours. You can pretty much eyeball it and tell. Also, check to see if any of your pullies are warped, especailly if you have a wobbling balancer.
