Have almost everything I need but still haven't found a used flywheel for my next 351W conversion. Need the 28 oz--old 302 or any 351 for a stick car. Anyone have any leads?
I made one using a tire balancer and a brake lathe it was way cheaper then spending 300 dollars new one and it works perfect.
Use the stock 351w flexplate on the balancer to get the weight you will need to get it to, it should be about 4 oz or so. spin the 302 flywheel which will probably be around 8 oz. Then you need to cut 4 oz off of the counter weight on the 302 flywheel. just take a few cuts off and spin it. Repeat untill you get the desired balance. sounds hokey but it works awesome.
P.S. the counter weights on the 302 and the 351w are in the exact same spot on the flywheel so that is not a concern.

Since I pulled my C4 to have it rebuilt I was going to put the T-5 back in for temp use, I went to ABS and asked about having the 5.0 flyweel match balanced to my 351 flexplate, well they said about $300. Needless to say a new flywheel is a much better route.
Maybe if we ask nicely, SPEEDFREAK will do a couple for us
