Need A Computer Program For.........

Is there either shareware or a program that anyone knows of that can convert:

1. Movie file types back and forth (wmv to avi to rm to mpg, etc)?

2. Audio type files (mp3 to wav to mp4, etc)

i have'nt actually downloaded anything, but i checked out download.com and they have some decent looking stuff, most of the good stuff looks like you have to buy i though
