Need a new battery

Well my battery has been acting up lately and I figure I will just replace it since I haven't in forever. What is the best battery that can support the car with a stereo, gauges, alarm, etc. w/out running low ever (b/c mine right now will die if I let the car sit for 2 days)?

I would say the Optima batteries, probably the red top. I have heard a lot of good things about them. Do a search. There is a specific one that fits right into the tray in our cars. I have been wanting to get one for some time but they are more expensive than most of the others.

+1, i will have optima in my car for life, its just one less thing to have to worry about

Well I talked with the people at Optima and they recommended the YellowTop for my application, however they said there have been height issues with mustangs. That leaves me with either the YellowTop D34 or D75-25, but if anyone has purchased one of these before, which model did you buy?

Optimas are ok but I think their quality has gone down ever since interstate bought them. I am on my third optima in 5 years. I had one red that lasted 3 years, I then had a yellow that lasted a little over a year, and I am on my second red top with around a year on that one. The optimas do not like to sit with a car that does not get driven a lot. If I don't drive my cobra at least once a month the battery will be dead and I have no battery draw in my car, so I had to buy a battery tender. Sad part is I never had that problem with the cheap little motorcraft battery I use to run in the car.

I've had nothing but good luck with optima yellow or red tops. I also put a couple of duralasts in the dd'ers and they were ok for the $$.

I've a couple yellow tops in various car i've owned. Always had a stereo system and the one in my 5.0 mustang was completely drained and recharged a couple times with no problem. I know they are pricey, but i think it's worth it.

I have a red top optima. I believe (until proven otherwise) that it is the best battery every created. My personal one when bought tested (540 cca) at 12.54 V and get this 1418 cca!!! (to those who don't know cca is cold cranking amps)... and it still tests over 1000 cca to this day.

I do drive my car in the winter and it has never let me down for 3 years. Original Alternator, udp's a somewhat large stereo and other goodies.

that's the point of the Yellowtop vs Red Top. Yellowtop is a deep cycle and designed to be drained completly and still be able to be recharged. The Red Top is not that is why it is cheaper and has a longer warranty.

Ironically, maybe not so much, but my 03 Black Centennial with a Mach 1000 Stereo System is asking for a new battery also. I appreciated all the comments about the Optima's and will probably elect for the red top to replace the now 4 years old Motorcraft.
