my 15 year old 3.5 ton low lift high rise jack is starting to take a on me. its a 2 piston deal and one of the seals blew out sunday jacking up my control arm to pull the spring out.

so its time to get a new jack

cant be an aluminum jack unless it can handle AT LEAST 2 tons
we have this one at the shop because the 2 craftsman ones took s on us in about 6 months.

doesnt have the ablity to jack up a big truck but since the biggest thing i see myself working on for awhile is my moms gen 1 i dont need 3.5 tons anymore. the lift height is most important. plus i think i have a thing to get this jack for 80 bucks...

next one is this one
http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-...Lift+Equipment&prdNo=7&blockNo=7&blockType=L7
4" lowest hight kind of kills it for me. seeing as my subframes are around 3" and it doesnt have nearly the reach or the height of the HF jack. and it cost a fortune

I have a Matco "Son of the beast". Love it. The beast is awesome but too big for my use normally, so I bought the "Son".

Just looked up a matco 3.5 ton on eBay... Since I don't have a matco dealer. 289 is a bit much for me to put out for a jack lol

Ya I didn't pay that much. I think $200.00 on sale. At any rate I will say I and my brother both had poor luck with the craftsman ones. Also a tip if you can look at one in person, see how or if it lifts with the handle in the down position. You know how low our cars are. The aluminum ones are nice but some aren't very wide and are unstable.

My buddy just bought the jack you listed... Works like a dream. It was perfect for putting a rear end, balanced right on the jack.

Actually i have been fairly impressed with the low profile alum jacks from harbor freight. I think they have a 2.5 ton and the thing is so light you wont get a hernia picking it up. I used my cousins and it worked great.
