Have a 2002GT (5 SPD) For the last week or so I have noticed a whistling sound coming from the car. I can't tell where it's coming from. I don't hear it at idle. Is it a wheel bearing ? - Brake pad indicator ?-- Am I low on gear oil ? Would really like some input on this before I go to the dealer !

Thanks in advance

Jerry

Give us more information. Does it happen all the time or just every once and a while. Or things you do that make it happen. Where does the noise sound like its coming from. etc. etc.

Been noticing it more and more lately. The faster I go - the louder it gets. Once I stop, or as I'm hitting the brakes - it's not there. Can't place exactly where the sound is coming from but it sounds like from the rear area.

Thanks again !

It could be dusty rear brakes or a brake pad indicator. That would make it whistle while you where driving and not necesarily when you are braking. Is it a whistling sound or a squeeling sound? Does it happen if you are in neutral and rev the engine?

Doesn't happen in Neutral with a rev -nope.

More of a whistling sound - not a squeal

Thanks guys for the help so far - I think you're starting to narrow it down for me
