Ok. So I ordered the Edelbrock Aluminum heads with the 1.90/1.60 valves. I ordered the TFS Stage 1 cam but I am returning it. I am going to run the stock bottom end from a 1993. I called a cam company that builds them and they suggested a cam with a 110* lobe separation and up to a .575 lift (that's what the head springs are rated up to). The tech told me that I will not have a problem with the piston to valve clearance. I have been told to be careful with the 110 * lobe because EFI motors like 112* and up. Any thoughts on this?

why do you want to return the TFS stage 1 cam? It's a popular, good working cam, and should do well with those heads. It's also 112 lobe seperation. It's one of the best off the shelf cams for the street as far as I know, so otherwise you would just go custom, and whoever does your cam can answer your questions.

If you look thru Comp, Crane, Lunati, Cower or any other cam catalog under 5.0 hyd. roller cams for use with stock electronics, you will notice that none of the cams listed has less than 112*LSA. Some are 114* for say a 94-95 or for automatic cars so you do not get the idle surge in gear at a stop. To find a cam with 110*LSA you are looking outside the stock electronics, or daily driver type of engine. I would have stayed with the TFS cam also.

depends what are you goals for this? Na, forced induction, or Spray?

For na you want a smaller lobe seperation, for forced induction you want a high lobe seperation.

blueblazes, what do you mean by smaller/higher lsa? The car is going to be N/A for now but probably a s/c or turbo down the road.

The TFS Stage 1 is a very mild cam. It has very little lift even with the 1.7 roller rockers. I would rather go with the 1.6 rockers and make up for the difference with the cam. I had a custom cam made by the same company years ago and it was awesome. I don't remember the specs though. I gave the new owner the spec card.
