After a couple of months saving and buying parts, it's time to start putting it all together. I left the bottom end stock for now. Here is a list of my parts:

Cobra upper and lower intake
24lb injectors
Trick Flow TW heads
Mass air flow sensor
Trick Flow 1.6 roller rockers
Trick Flow Stage III cam
MSD 6al
100 shot nitrous system
255lpm fuel pump
AOD Bauman Shiftkit
3500 Stall Converter

I know I am leaving out a few things, but that's as much as I can remember right off the top of my head. I still have to buy headers and gears so hear is my question. I wanted to get 1 5/8 long tube headers and a 4.10 gear. My brother thinks I should go with 1 3/4 long tubes and a 4.30 gear. This car will be driven more than raced and my commute is only 15 miles so mpg is not a concern, performance is. The plan is to run a 2.5 exaust without cats. Where I live there are no emmissoins laws. What should be my setup on exaust and choice of gear. All help is welcomed.

Call me crazy but isn't a stage III cam rediculously radical for this combo? RPM range from 3500-7000.
.574/.595 236/248 I don't think that will work with a stock piston at all...

Yeah the stage 3 is a bit much, use the II. The I is no better than an E.
I'd say the odds of the III hitting a piston is near 100%, not to mention you'll definetely need upgraded springs, and the low rpm range on the car will certainly be hurt.

You'll also love the Baumann kit, i used it on my supercharged 5.0 explorer, best 100 bucks i ever spent.
On firmness make sure to use setting 5, i used 3, but if i had to do it again, it would surely be 5.

Would even the stage II work with a stock piston? Has anyone done this before?

I kinda get the feeling that the III will be way too much as well. What about the headers and the gear selection? Is the Stage II the way to go?

I'm not the biggest fan of Long tubes. They do work. But if you intend on lowering the car, you may have clearance issues.

I'd just get an equal length set of bassani headers. There is no better.

1 3/4's may be over kill for you. Since cars that produce nearly double what you are going to can use 1 5/8.

Gears, use the 4.10's.

As far as the stage II, i don't know the specs offhand, i just know that the I is not much if any better than an E, and the III is way too much.

I like longtubes...but I don't mind taking speed bumps at .00001 mph. I agree with 4.10s...maybe 4.30s??

BTW Stage 2 is 2,500 to 6,000 224/232 .542/.563

Then the stage II is going to be damn close, and you'll need the upgraded springs if you are going to try it.

My pistons had to be notched to get my custom cam right, but i had experts checking clearances, if i did the work i would of bent valves.

Well I appreciate all your advice, this is my first time performing modifications on a car. My brother insists that the cam won't be a problem due to the higher stall and 4.30 gear and that the 1 3/4 LT's are the way to go. Of course he is of the family more is always better. He believes that any information he's given, go one step above that. I tend to agree with you guys. Is there another cam that you may recommend for my combo, and what kinda 1/4 mile times could be expected from this combo with proper cam and tuning.

Stall has nothing to do with the pistons hitting the valves.
I really can't give a cam reccomendation, since i use a custom cam, and the shop that did my car uses almost all customs.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
