I was messing with my headlight switch last night becuase the dash doesnt light up when turn on my headlights. (problem 1)

and i got frusterated and pulled all the wires out of the switch....i dont have a diagram so i dont know where the wires go now. the chilton's diagram is wrong, and every diagram i find on the internet it wrong. none of them have the correct wire colors or WHAT prong they plug into on the switch. (problem 2)

there are 7 wires and 9 prongs on the switch....no wire harness because it melted and had to be replaced.

what i need is for someone to tell me what color wire goes with which prong. (before it gets dark out or i am stuck at work.)

ford wants $200 to fix it.

haha you rock!

i JUST got a faxed diagram from the switch manufacturer as well. which corresponds to your picture

unforunately the *dash board* STILL doesnt light up when the headlights come on?

what is the fix for that?

(YES fuses have been checked repeatedly)

For the original issue, had you checked the dimmer fuse (13 IIRC)?

Good luck.

Adam, I hear ya. But after a course of events like occurred, it never hurts to ask (just in case someone doesn't know that the dimmer has it's own fuse).

If the dimmer fuse is ok, I'd check for dimmer circuit output at the headlight switch.
