If you don't have an oil filter wrench just take off your belt, wrap it around the filter, and pull like hell. I've done this a couple of times when I couldn't locate a filter wrench and was in a hurry.

The belt or rubber-slip-wrench idea is good. You'll have to do it around the highest part of the filter (at its base where it's screwed to the housing) because the housing is torn from the screwdriver.

If none of these suggestions work you can try this (I had to do it several times when working with Mack engines) put a hole in the filter by the base and use an air hammer, with a chisel end, on the cast filter flange in the off direction (lefty loosey). If you don't have an air hammer use a hand held chisel and a miny sledge. I know it sounds crude but it works, I have had to do it several times because for some reason on Mack and Cat engines the resonate vibrations tend to tighten filters when they are running. Don't worry the filter flange will not allow you hit block surface.
