Just got my car back on the road, shes been doing great until now. I know it has an exhaust leak, that is scheduled to be fixed on Monday(header gasket).

I let it idle for a while while I was picking up my new Nitto Tires-so it could be hesitating because of the heat soak, but when its under load it gets jerky and doesnt want to go. Ive put around 200miles on it within the last two days and its run flawlessly.

So I dont know what to think. I had a bad oil leak and the oil was getting on my drivers side O2 sensor- so that could be a problem but maybe not the problem. I could also have a clogged injector, which if not fixed could be fatal (right?)

I need to know right now if I should just get some new injectors-just in case.

I did just clean the engine bay and water could have gotten into my distributer-but if thats the case then why would it have run so well for the last two days and not today. I let it idle for a while and it hasnt had this problem yet. I cleaned the bay before those 200+miles.

The timing was just set by the shop Ive been bringing it to, so unless they didnt tighten it down enough-that shouldnt be the problem. The reason they were setting/checking it was because I told them I had some hesitation from between 1500-2400rpms. After they re-set it it drove better.

I need my car to work-and I reek of exhaust someone please help me out.
FFW is next weekend and if I have to, I need to start ordering parts to be overnighted to me right now!

Did you pull codes?

That's the place to start. If you have a timing light, you can put it on each wire and note if the light is intermittant at those RPM's where the car misses.

Otherwise, I can think of a handful of things it could be but more info would help narrow it down.

Good luck.

Yeah...pull the codes and take your time before guessing and replacing parts that are not needed........even if your check engine light is not on does not mean that codes are not being "thrown"........

where can i get my codes checked?
ive been weary about this because some people on this site have said bad things about places like autozone screwing their cars up after they had their codes read.

i just changed the oil, it was running ok before the change but for some reason the oil pressure on the stock gauge was way low, like at the N on Normal and even below it. my oil filter was pretty heavy (clogged) and the oil smelled like gas-why is that?

im hoping that things work out after this- all mobil 1 synthetic except for the lucas synthetic and a mobil 1 filter

stupid question: i put the reccomended amount of oil in-5 quarts-and the dipstick doesnt show any oil at all....
does it matter that i didnt start it yet, shouldnt there be sufficient oil to get a reading even without the engine being turned on?

Just got her back home put on about 40miles, the oil change helped but the pressure still seems low... the needle is covering the N in NORMAL, sometimes it got between the N and O but thats lower than its ever been.
Theres no smoke but Im scared.

it is probably a plug wire or possibly a plug.
is your check engine light on if not then its probably not the o2

yea get the codes checked at like autozone, or advance auto, basically we cant really help you out unless u get the codes scanned. also i dont think that u could mess up the car just by scanning codes. Once u get them post em up in here and im sure one of us can help u pin-point the problem, good luck man.

If you have a paperclip, pull the codes yourself. It takes less time and BS than going to the parts store.

After 5 quarts of oil, you DEFINATELY should have had a reading on the dipstick!

At the parts store, get a 10 dollar mechanical oil pressure gauge and hook it up inside the engine compartment so you can see what's really going on, if oil pressure is a concern.

Good luck.
