My daily driven '65 mustang is currently running on a 2 barrel carb and I wanted to upgrade to a 4 barrel, but I was unsure of what carb and intake to go with. So I wanted to see if anyone can recommend a setup. My 289 has an HO cam, and flat top pistons. Along with that, I have headers, and a 2.5 inch exhaust. I'm also using a t-5 tranny.

I was thinking on using a 600 cfm edelbrock and was looking at the performer, performer rpm, and air-gap intakes.

Go with the Performer RPM, reg or air gap. Another good one is Ford's A321. Different runner layout but works the same. The A321 is also a current version of the old "Cobra" high rise, Edelbrock F4B and Ford's C9OX intake. Performer is just an aluminum 4 bbl version of your 2 bbl intake. Works no better than the 60's 289/302 iron 4 bbl intake. If you want a Holley carb, these will do you: list # 1850, list # 80783, 80457, Street Avengers ? 570 is what you want. Want a mechanical secondary carb and don't mind fuel consumption? List # 4776-600 cfm double pumper.

I have a 600 cfm Edelbrock and an ol school Torker intake (horrible for daily driving!) but am switching over to a Perfomer RPM and keeping the same carb.
