I scored a pair of Magnaflow xl mufflers for my 02 GT. Anyone with tips on cutting out the stockers and installing the mags, still using the rest of the stock exhaust? The new mags have 2-1/2 " inlet and outlets.

Mine goes to the muffler shop. I will NEVER know why anyone would buy an expensive catback 'system' that they then bolt in?!?

Let a good muffler shop BUILD u a system, or at least let them WELD your expensive new mufflers in place!

I think magnaflow and the other exhaust companies know a lot more about flow on a mustang than a regular muffler shop. Most of the time the catbacks are dyno tested to make sure they perform. Plus with the catbacks, you get mandrel bends, which many shops (that I went to anyway) were not able to make.

I don't mean to bash the real muffler shops, but I feel safer using a mfg'd catback as I would a one off from a muffler shop. (as long as it's a good mfg)

Just as long as the muffler shop doesn't cut the fuel line on your 2 month old 1994 Black 1LE Z28 as they are welding in the muffler...and as your car is burning they discover that their fire extinguishers are all out of date and not up to fire codes becuase they are all EMPTY...so you get to watch a car that you've only had for mostly a week total (because its been at the performance shop getting heads, cam, gears, headers and tuning; also with brand new wheels, tires and suspension upgrades) burn up right in front of your eyes...

Yeah I haven't been to a muffler shop in over 5 years...you can probably take a wild guess as to why.
