I've just become the proud owner of a 1979 5.0 Ghia coupe. This is my first V8 mustang I've had in a very long time and loving every second I get to spend in the drivers seat. I've been searching for a hour now and I can't find any answers to my questions. I want to replace the old single pipe exhaust that's under the car now. I've gone to numerous websites and the farthest back that anybody goes is to 83. My questions are: 1.)What are the differences between the early (83-85) 5.0 exhaust systems and the later (86-93) systems? 2.)Who makes a duel exhaust system that will fit my car?

As much as I'd like to do that, I want to keep it legal. Emissions standards in NJ are pretty much a PITA, but I do want to keep it clean. And I want to do the work myself. So that means buying a complete exhaust system that I can bolt in.

I have the possibility of getting a complete exhaust from a 91. Would it work or would I have to do some sort of adapting to get it to fit?

if you can use one from a 91 you can use anything else that works on a 91, so dont waste your money on a stock one get flows or something

That's the question I've been trying to ask. Will it work on my car? I don't want to throw it on my car and find out that it's not legal and won't pass the emissions testing. That would be a huge waste of money I can spend elsewhere.
