ok guys, the head gasket is blown on my car and i need to replace it next weekend. which means i need to order some gaskets soon. im just gonna use a basic felpro kit for the intake and everything but i wanted a head gasket that i know will never leak. i was looking at those copper head gaskets and they seem like a pretty good idea but ive never known anyone to use them. also, what compressed thickness am i looking for? i plan on putting this motor on the bottle soon so a thicker gasket would lower the compression but how thick is too thick? i dont really want to use a basic felpro gasket but i guess if i have to i can make due. thanks guys

dragnazz5.0,

My next set will be ROL. They are suppossed to be real strong and not too expensive. See this link:

I have Cometic head gaskets in my car. They are expensive, but they will pretty much never blow. The downside is that if your tune if off, you will burn a hole in your piston long before the head gasket will ever let go

dont the heads and block have to be machined specifically for those head gaskets though? if not, than thats what im going to use. where did you get yours if you dont mind me asking?

As far as I know there is no machining involved. I blew a Fel-Pro gasket on my car, so I replaced them with the cometics and ARP head studs and it's been perfect ever since. The block and head surfaces do need to be flat and pretty smooth. After cleaning off all the old gasket I b-sanded the heads and deck suface, finishing with some 400 grit. I got them at a local speed shop.

Cometic gasket. i think felpro offers a new stainless steel impregnated one, Its not as much as the cometic but still better than stock, I use Cometic, never had a problem since..
