Need Help guys - Alternator

I ordered a new alternator from summit, it says regulator not included...What does that mean technically...

The regulator is an internal item so it should be inside the alternator, your wiring harness should connect to it. Without it you can't charge your battery is what it means.

exactly, it just threw me off saying its not included up top.
