I just got done with the headswap, and I was SO DAMN EXCITED! I primed the oil system, fuel system and Power steering. I check EVERY connector 5 times! I check the fuel pressure, the spark plugs are firing and yet it just turns over and over! No noises from the valvtrain so the cams didnt jump time, I just have no clue! It turns over and over fine and sputters once or twice, but it never starts up! I am charging the battery right now, but I think something is wrong......WELL NO $HIT!

By chance, did you change the computer?

If so, then you have to get your keys re-programmed.

Was there fuel pressure? Did you check the fuel cut off switch in the trunk?

Take #1 spark plug out and rotate the motor manually to top dead center. compare this to your timing marks. If you can, re-check the marks on the timing chain.

Try spraying some starter fluid into your throttle body and see if it runs for a few seconds. If it does, then we cam eliminate your timing.

Depending on the duration of the new cam, without a custom tune, the car will not idle. I know a lot of people have to keep thier foot on the gas at idle to keep it going. Try that. If that doesn't work, there is a fuel injection trick: Because EFI can't flood like a carb, when you put the pedal to the floor during starting it does what as known as a "clear flood", this sort of over-rides the computer manipulation of fuel delivery through the injectors. As crazy as it sounds, put the pedal to the floor, hold it there, and crank. That is if you haven't already tried it. Good luck....i plan the H/S on my 98 so i might be back to pick your brain on the process!

Ok, I know about the clear flood mode. If you hold the throttle wide open it consistantly turns over, but as soon as you let off the gas it starts to get hard to turn over and it sputters and smells rich.
