Using the new SCT SF Tuner, I loaded the 91 oct tune to my 03 GT using 92 octane gas. The car runs great with the exception of some pinging when I goose the throttle at at a stop (neutral). It happens at the beginning of the rev. What can I adjust to get rid of this?

The mods on the engine are: Ford Racing CAI and BBK 75mm TB and Plenum.

Experienced SCT SF 2 users please.

Thanks.

Back the timing 1 degree then take her for a drive again. Repeat if necessary.

Try pulling timing back a couple degrees form the 0 to 2000 rpm range. I had to do the same thing. Mine would ping in high gear below the 2000 rpm range. I max the timing out throu the 2000-4000 range and 4000-6000 range. Pearl02.

I origanally pulled 4 degrees out between th 0-2000 rpm range. Once I got my gears in, I was able to add 2 degrees back. All I'm saying is you may have to pull more tining out. Play with it. If only I can get my data logger to work. Pearl02.

My car has started to do the same with the 10% etathanol gas stations are putting in. I'm running the 87 octane tune to stop the pinging while I find the solution.

im having the same problem, and I think this ethanol in fuel crap has something to do with it. I fill with 93 octane and it pings with my safe (87 octane) tune at WOT. I pulled timing and went richer A/F @ WOT in 2% increments until I fixed it, but depending on where I ge gas at, it comes back. I used to have 1 gas station that was always reliable for good fuel, but now its hit or miss. this blows.

Got it...! Took 2 deg off @ 0-2000, added fuel @ low trim, and added 5 % @ Wot for CAI. Works GRRREAT!!

This is with 91 Tune.. and our Western 92 Premium Mobil 1 Gas or Shell which ever one has an open landing strip.....

Thanks, Jongo, for the fuel tip!!!!!!

Glad it worked out for you. I didn't think about the fuel trim. I'm still fighting with my data logger.... Pearl02.
