I was wondering if anyone can figure out what this hose is for and where it goes? The other end of the hose isn't connected to anything either. The black plastic and metal canister in the bottom of the pic is wired into the harness if that helps any. Any ideas? Thanks!

No, it is the thing that the smog (air) pump sends air into.

Oh, well I removed the smog pump and plugged it in the back of the heads. Do I still need the vapor canister? How can I tell if its the solenoid? Thanks for all your help so far. Sorry I can't get you more information, the car isn't at my house, it's in my girlfriend's barn which is a pretty far drive so I don't want to go there just to check out the hose.

that is the engine evaporator hose, it goes to the large nipple on the carbon canister. the carbon canister is on the passengers side of the car below the air filter housing. The purge solenoid valve is in-line with the carbon canister and controls the flow of fuel vapors out of the canister. It is normally closed. When the engine is shut off, vapors from the fuel tank flow into the canister. After the engine is started, the solenoid is opened, drawing air through the carbon canister, purging the vapors from the canister into the engine. Vapors from the fuel tank are routed directly into the engine.
