Need help. Message center error (DTE FLI DATA ERR). Urgent!

I got an error on my message center this afternoon (DTE FLI DATA ERR) and my system check said all my fluids are low (oil pressure, brake fluid, gas, etc) that my parking brake is engaged (when it is clearly not) and my TCS is off. Nothing shows up on my information center like my turn signals (they still work but no clicking or flashing green arrows); same thing for my brights. I checked my oil, it seems to be fine. The car seems drivable, but I don't want my brakes giving out, you know. Unfortunately, it's a Sunday afternoon and I doubt any shops are open for me to ask about this. I looked in my owner's manual and did some searching online for this code, but I have yet to come across anything. I was thinking maybe I blew a fuse for the sensor which controls all that stuff, but I couldn't find a fuse which controled any of those things in the manual. Any help would be appreciated. I only have 11k miles on the car and stuff like this shouldn't be happening yet.

Sounds like the Flux Capacitor went out and you need a new one. Dealer should beable to get ya up and running quickly.

you need a new cluster, I have seen clusters go out on a couple of these so far..

I used to get this on my C5 Z06 and it was to do with a low battery. It may not be the same thing with the Mustang but on the Vette, the arm controls didn't work, everthing went "wrong" - ABS, traction control and everything else. Restarting it restored it all to normal but it did it once during a drive. Keeping the battery charged cured it. May be worth checking.

FLI = Fuel Level Indicator

I had this error and the dealer replaced the sender unit in my fuel tank. However, I didn't have the other systems you describe, just the FLI error and the fuel guage turned red and showed empty. Everything else worked per normal. Good luck.

Same thing on my 05 GT, just the fuel gauge, but it came back and hasn't done it again?

when you see as many faults he has in the cluster then it's the cluster itself.. as I said earlier it's kind of common in some fords..

We have had this issue mostly with the five hundred where the circuit board gets small cracks in it, but I have seen a few mustangs do it too. it's really not a big deal the dealer will replace the ICM ( cluster)

This just happened to me! The first odd thing that happened is that my alarm went off when I got into the car. Now all the same things that ufnavy06 reports is happening to me!

Heck even my iPod adapter is not working!

Well, I unplugged my iPod adapter and battery. Plugged the battery back in [without the iPod adapter tied to the Radio] and all came back.

I then unplugged my Battery again, hooked up the iPod adpater to the radio again, hooked up the battery and all was still good.

So, I am not sure if the iPod/SAT adapter had anything to do with it but unhooking the battery did seem to fix the weirdness.

it happened again when I got into my car to leave for home yesterday. This time I just unplugged the iPod Adapter and all was corrected. So, it is the iPod Adapter causing this issue and seeing that ufnavy06 has one too from his sig, I am sure that is your issue too.

When I got home I ran the iPod cable up to my glove box [before it was going to my center console and the cable was being pinched by the top arm rest cover]. Since doing that the iPod adapter has been stable. I told myself before not to allow the cable to be pinched but I ignored myself. That will teach me!

If it was the iPod cable, it may be contacting inside the cover (wires inside frayed), grounding out and doing nasty things, even with the new routing. You may want to get a new cable just in case; the damage to the cable may not be visible.

I took the car into the dealer. They know it's electrical....duh. But they want me to remove my sequential taillights to further diagnose the problem. That sucks cause my old wiring harnesses are at my parents' house in Fl and I'm in SC. Blah! Maybe it's the wiring harness for the sequentials and the iPod adapter. If it's the iPod, shouldn't Best Buy pick up the tab since they installed it, 'professionally'? Furthermore, I've had the taillights and the adapter for almost 6 months together, and I've had the taillights for 9 months of the 10 I've had the car. No problems before. Hmm....

Mine did the same thing after I installed the Peripheral PXDP2 IPOD interface,So I disconnected the negative terminal...reconnected after 30 min and everything was cleared in the message center.

I too have been having this problem. I get the same warnings in the instrument panel. It started two months ago. I took it back to the dealer 3 times and they only replaced the smart jumper box on the instrument cluster and the problem keeps coming back. It sounds like there's a short somewhere but no one seems to know where it is...

I also have the Peripheral PXDP2 IPOD interface connected to the Shaker stereo unit and running through the center console. Are we sure that the iPod adapter could be causing this type of problem? If so, I'll have to uninstall it and try running it to the glove compartment...

My only concern that the problem would continue even if I move the adapter and I would still need to take it to the dealer....

I got the same problem this week, and about a month ago. I just got a new battery and that fixed the problem, also my "Check Engine" light went off with the new battery. Some say that's what happens when your battery is running low on charge... and when we checked the battery bay... it had all the battery fluid spilled.

Peripheral iPod adapter is the culprit!

Hi,

I had the same error shortly after getting a Peripherals GEN2 iPod adapter installed in my 2006 GT convertible with Shaker 1000 head unit. It took me a while to associate the error with the adapter, but it seems to be the root cause. I unhooked my iPod a few weeks ago (didn't even need to yank the adapter from the head unit) and no errors since.

Same problem here with the Peripherals iPod adapter + Shaker 500. DTE FLI DATA ERR, gagues show no gas, no oil pressure, no TCS, parking brake on, check engine light on, turn signals don't click, etc. I've seen this about 20 times in two years. Disconnecting the battery for 30 mins solves the problem. At this point, I can live with it like that. But has anyone found a fix that is easier than disconnecting the battery?

If I hold down the Setup and Reset buttons while I turn the key to accessory, the computer does a ROM CRC and various other checks. Is there another trick that will reset the sensors?

BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING OR GO TO DEALERSHIP!!! look at your pedals where your foot rest is pull back the carpet and pull back the metal foot rest.. sometimes the metal footrest rubs through wires back there and causes a short had the SAME exact problem as you i covered both sides with thick electrical tape made sure all was sound unplugged my battery for a min the reconnected and everything was gravy.. hope this helps cause its a cheap fix!

This has happened to me 3 times (DTE FLI DATA ERR, Low Oil Pressure warning, OBSII light, Parking Brake on warning, no turn signals, etc). I had an auxiliary stereo jack installed about that time. Could this be the cause? (I correct it be disconnecting/reconnecting the negative battery cable).

Need help. Message center error (DTE FLI DATA ERR). Urgent!
