Need Help On A Good Long tube 4.6 header

Depends on if you're set on having a name brand lt or not. If you dont care about the brand name....Flowtech....which is the same as Hooker headers. Best part is the price....$350ish ceramic coated, and you dont have to remove them to get to the tranny.

Are you sure on that about removing the tranny ? I might be getting a pair. I think they have dohc version.

I love my SLP Creamic LTs.. I also paid $684 for them. You get what you pay for.

I've heard bad things about Mac's LTs, poor weld quality and such

everyones heard bad things about everyone, but few people actually experience it. mac did have some quality problems, but that has been addressed. the weld quality have been fine on every set i've had of them, which is 3 sets to be exact. the hts coated macs are the ones people complain about, not the ceramic coated ones

Yup hooker headers allow you to remove the tranny without pulling the LTs...and Flowtech is just a renamed Hooker.....both owned by Holley.... and yes they do make a DOHC version.

Yeah, I heard some Hooker LTs w/ Hooker X pipe on some Magnaflow catbacks. IMO the sickest sounding combination I've yet to hear on a 4.6 'Stang.

I would kill for a setup like that but just don't have the bucks to go there. :(

Whatever you do... DO NOT BUY MAC thier products are crap and very low quality, it will rust out and look like crap in 6 months

If you want to spend the big bucks, go with hooker, its the only LT set up that allows you to remove your transmission

other wise you can go with the BBK like I just bought, good fit, excellent finish and sound awesome. I am very happy, I got the catted matching H and maganflow cat back, car sounds awesome

 ya want me to post up pics of some ceramic coated lt's that do the same thing. i've had mine ("pos" mac's) for 2 years & they aren't rusted, discolored yes, but that's going to happen with any lt

:stupid: I have MAC HTS's for two years now, they are a little discolored, but no rust and fit great. Although you do have to drop them to do trans/clutch work :notnice:

yeah that's the only bad thing about it. BUT my buddy told me a new way to try & work with it, cause he did it this way last time he did tranny work. he told me if you push the tranny up back a touch & twist it, that it will come out with the headers in place. i'll find out soon when i replace my tranny :nice:

one thing that most people don't realize is that ANY coated steel can rust. although ceramic coating is nice, but it isn't rust proof. the closest thing to rust proof would be properly treated stainless steel & even then under the right condidtions it can still rust

I am only speaking from experience...the few cars I h ave seen with MAC products have all had to been replaced becuase of poor quality.

it's just my .02 cents really, but the saying you get what you pay for really is true

I plan on getting the SLP's since they seem to be the best build quality out there right now other than Kooks. the Kooks are all individual tubes though which makes it a real PITA install.

MAC is a 3 letter word for ****! I have had headers of theirs leak at the mounting flanges as well as just plain rot out. they use cheap quality aluminized stock and even cheaper coatings on them. you get what you pay for in the parts market...

MAC's have a problem with their welding, like I said. Some people have complained that the EGR tube has sucked up slag into their engine because of th poor weld quality. This is just what I've heard.

there have been VERY few cases where that has happened. the biggest problem with the mac headers are the headers for the 4v's. the 4v already scavenges well, & the mac headers scavenge very well & it can cause some oil blowby. some people mistake that for the weld slag scarring the cylinder walls. i've only seen the weld slag problem documented 1 time, & another time a guy thought it was that, but it ended up not being that at all. mis-information just irritates me when people spread what they 'hear' & most of the time it's not truth. it's someone that doesn't even own the product saying what they heard, from a friend, of a friend, of a friend, of a friends cousin, or of course on the internet from someone else that didn't know what they were talking about.

*note* i'm not flaming christiesledd i'm just irritated cause that happens alot in seemingly every tech thread

I'm just quoting what I've seen on other mustang websites, and I've seen it talked about more than just a few times  I've seen MAC's quality of all their products discussed a few times  just my opinion, I don't like MAC, nothing wrong with sharing my opinion.. that's what forums are for :)

I'm not offended by what you said, but just like everyone else I like to comment on what I've seen and what made me decide which LTs I wanted to use.
