Right now I am trying to install some Bassani equal-length headers on my 90 Notchback. Because they are equal lengths the motor needs to be lifted a few inches to get the passenger side header in.

I have unbolted the motor mounts from the k-member, unbolted the tranny from it's mount, but when I try to jack up the engine it still jacks the whole car up, and the motor doesn't move any, giving me no more clearance. Is there anything else that needs to be unbolted so that I can lift the motor a couple of inches to get the header in?

Thanks everyone.

The ground straps I hadn't thought of, I'll check that. There is no fan shroud anymore, it has a elctric fan conversion. Thanks.

If your motor mounts were like mine then the studs on them go through the k member. You may have to unbolt the mounts from the motor itself.

Try jacking it up til the car starts going up then try shaking the car around alittle and see if it breaks out. This is what i did also make sure your jacking evenly you dont want to start cocking the motor. Hope this helps

wow not good advice.... ever seen a jack fly out from under a car. I woulkdnt do that. een if ya jack it up alittle I almost had a car fall on me while dropin my AOD.
if possible start the motor put it in first gear. while 1 mount is unbolted and it should tq. up in the air a little . It will allow you to free up what ever was biding up

I'm not saying jack it up all the way just enough till the body starts coming up then carefully move the body back and forth I can'tee any harm in that just be caution and don't be underneith it when your doing it.
