I was removing my fuel injector because I had a leak somewhere. When I pulled off the last one I noticed it was missing half of the little cap on the end of the fuel injector. I looked in the intake but I don't see it. If this fell down in the intake how do I get it out? What do I do to fix this injector?

You can buy new pintle caps......do a search to find. Look at it real close where the break is and see if it is real new or been that way for a while. If it is new I'd look down inside the injector hole with a fiber optic device. Most likely it was put in that way or it has already been digested (yikes). Those pintle caps are pretty strong because they are small.

Good Luck, Don

Here is the info you need........it was just discussed last week.

The pintle cap secures the O ring in place so that it doesn't slide off down into the intake. Lost caps are not uncommon, and being plastic, the will burn up in the cylinder if the fall off. Ford made them of plastic for that reason.

Fuel injector seal kits with 2 O rings and a pintle cap (Borg-Warner P/N 274081) are available at Pep Boys auto parts. Cost is about $2.74 per kit. The pintle caps fit either injectors with a pin sticking out the injector end or 4 with more tiny holes in the injector end. The following are listed at the Borg-Warner site ( http://www.borg-warner.com ) as being resellers of Borg-Warner parts:

http://www.partsplus.com/ or http://www.autovalue.com/ or http://www.pepboys.com/ or http://www.federatedautoparts.com/

Most of the links above have store locators for find a store in your area.

Thanks guys.
The leak ended up being my fuel pressure regulator. It has a set screw in the side of it (I guess for checking fuel pressure) that had come loose and was seeping fuel. I ended up just taking the pintle caps off of my old injectors and putting it back together. Again,,thanks for your help.
