need help reinstalling shifter in my T5

I took out my shifter today to add some tranny fluid that leaked out. I didnt have a pump readily available so i just took out the fill plug took off the shifter and put tranny fluid in till it came out the fill plug. Worked good, but now i got another problem. I cant get the shifter back on the tranny. I forget exactly how it went together. Stock shifter i believe. There are 2 springs that i took out with the shifter and im not exactly sure where they went. I tried putting them in the slots in the tranny but that makes it damn near impossible to bolt the shifter down. Then i tried to put them on top of the "nipples" on the shifter and bolt it down, that didnt work either. I tried looking for diagrams but no luck on that yet. Any suggestions?
