Does anyone know of a website that will sell a new boot for my 07? or a way to keep the factory one from sliding down the shifter shaft exposing the metal?

Partscheap.com sells shifter boots. Just click on your year mustang and then click on interior parts.

I recently purchased a leather shift boot from Passion Automotive:

Ford Mustang Shifter Boots - Passion Automotive Accessories LTD.

Much nicer than the stock boot, and easy to install.

Easy fix

Your boot is probably just fine. If it's slipping down then the o-ring must have broken or is missing. Take you knob and boot off and take them to a hardware or auto parts store and get an o-ring the fits the boot tight to the shifter knob. For less than a dollar the problem is fixed.

Well i just ordered and new knob its a hurst pistol grip and its not gonna have the groove where the o ring would go into that where i run into the problem of the leather running down the shaft.
