Need help tapping oil pan

I've got a general idea on how to do it but can anyone give me more specifics on what size tap, how far to tap, etc. Thanks.

I assume u are tapping for a blower oil return line

Here is the advice I can give you.

1) Take your time
2) cover the tap with lots of grease to catch as much metal shaving as possible
3) drain oil AFTER tapping... and replug the oil pan with magnetic plugs just for safe measure.

i know a lot of people puch and tap but that always scares me, the only truly safe way of doing it is to pull the pan and drill a hole and weld a fitting on the side of the pan, aht way you are sure there are no filings migrating they're way to your oil pump

People been punching the pan for a return line for 20 years now on a 5.0 and never have heard of a problem and since the motor needs to come out to remove the pan a punch is easy.

I tapped the oil pan in my car. Before I did, I was pretty much scared sensless by the bullcrap that speads over these forums by in or UN experienced posters. I bet 90% of the people against tapping oil pans (because it will damage the motor ) have never actually tried to do it. When actually came time to tap the pan, it turned out to be the EASIEST step in my entire blower install. go figure uh

the metal shaving from a pan tap are so minimal its nearly impossible for them to do serious harm. Albiet, anything can still happen so don't completely slack on the saftey/precuation perspective.
