Hey all,

I wanted to see if anybody here had some good knowledge about my X2C coilover setup could point me in the right direction.

Next week I'll be replacing my Steeda 3 bolt C/C plates, and replacing them with a 4 bolt UPR C/C plates. After about 1 1/2 years, I ended up blowing out the bearing sheild retaining rings on the Steeda plates. After a phone call to Steeda, it turns out that the 4 bolt plates are necessary for a coilover setup due to the increased loads they generate on the bearing.

Now, my coilover kit has always been fussy. The ride is EXTREMELY harsh, and even before the C/C plates busted on me, the steering would bind in certain spots. Also on certain times when I would hit a bump, I could actually hear the spring unwinding and make a rattling noise.

Now I don't know if this is normal, but when the car is lifted off the ground, the coilover springs completely uncompress and can actually be moved up and down with my hand! Now, I can solve this problem by rotating the spanners till they touch the bottom of the spring, but then my ride height is too high.

Anyways, I began to seriously think about whether or not I want to keep my coilovers. I originally got them because I wanted to do a "different" approach to getting rid of the 4x4 look. I'd hate to spend more money trying to get this setup to work. At this point the struts will have to come off to change the C/C plates, should I just ditch the coilovers and go with set of decent lowering springs instead?...Or is there still hope for my coilovers?

Sorry for the long post..Hope somebody can help!

sounds to me like you could solve the problem with some longer coil over springs. what length are your springs that are in there right now?
