Hello Stangnet.

I been away for a while and came back with new problems...

I deleted my EGR and header tube and smog pump. Now the car dies sometimes just sitting at red light... I didn't get it tuned yet and the CEL light is on...

What is the way to make the car run better? I up the idle a little and it helped a little but sometime it feels like car is missing while driving. Kind of like a misfire...It's weird...

Any thoughts? I know lot of you have been through this before...

Help me

Yes. of course.

Do you guys have picture of the EGR delete process? I know i did the smog delete correctly but EGR delete is kind of tricky. I would like to see some vacuum lines routing.

Can you help? Thanks

Just plug the vacuum line that was going to the egr which should be the green one. Also, take apart the EGR valve so that the sensor is separate and rig it up so that the plunger is half way between all the way out and all the way in. Plug that baby back in to the wiring harness and tuck it away somewhere and viola....no more CEL.

if smog and egr are both gone...

This can get gone... all together...

Line modified with no smog. (vac caped at connector to the smog) egr still functional

I took some picture of how i did this.

Tell me if i this this wrong, And also i took out the little vacuum module thing on the passenger side because it broke...I don't even know what that piece does.

For the smog pump i plugged this while line and orange line

For the EGR I routed the vacuum this way. Is this right?

Currently there is no vacuum lines going to the EGR. I still have it plugged in.

I also broke this. What is this. While i was deleting the EGR, i unplugged and threw it.

Let me know

What is that green and red vacuum lines? I thought i could use it as vacuum source for the fuel pressure regulator. Am i wrong on this whole process?

Thanks guys

That pic is of the purge solenoid (the charcoal cannister solenoid empties the CC cannister, which stores vapor from the fuel tank). It hurts nothing to leave this system stock. If that line is open and you park near a pilot light (furnace, etc), you have fuel vapor and a pilot light in the same vicinity (as a chemist, you know that's not good).

Red supplied manifold vac to the EGR and smog solenoids. It would probably be ok for a FPR source *if* you don't use it for *anything* else (you don't have smog or EGR solenoids).

The FPR should have had a blk/blue vac line. Your intake might not have the provision, but the stock FPR line is super short (and a dedicated line). You want the FPR vac source to be super close to the FPR (and don't tee into that line).

Green is a branch off of the Red line. It goes to the EGR solenoid. Don't use this (for length concerns. Red is more direct if red isn't used for anything else).

I left the egr on the manifold, but plugged off the egr and header, removed smog pump and lines, plugged vac lines, and have NO CEL light...

Okay so the piece i broke is called canister purge solenoid. Since i don't have the EGR or the Smog pump can i just get rid of this? If i don't have the smog pump this solenoid and charcoal canister is useless along with the smog and EGR hoses and connectors inside the fender...I think :dontknow:

I researched a little and it purges gas fume back in to the intake and tells the computer to lean out. So it is basically another emission equipment that it will be malfunctioning.

I went and got another purge solenoid just in case. but i do not see the need to hook this up...

I want some opinion. I am going to get the car tuned so i will be deleting the EGR and SMOG, Emission stuff out of the ECU.

Let me know

Thanks :headbang:

Read the post two above yours. It is not just an emissions device but a safety device. You will never know if it's functioning or not. All it does is vent gas vapors in a closed loop. It has nothing to do with the A.I.R or EGR systems.

Okay. So i took it for a drive. Car runs like crap.

I took out the "Green" EGR line and "RED" vacuum completely and plug those 2 lines and stuffed it under the fender.

I hooked up the fuel pressure line back to normal as how it was from the vacuum tree.

Why is this? I have not plugged up the EGR yet. I left the EGR solenoid on the elbow but not plugged up yet where header tube used to mount. I plugged/capped up the header only.

Is this what is causing it?

It studers really bad. It is like hesitation but also like misfiring, Almost like running out of fuel. Car jerks and dies every time i come to a stop.

Let me know what i can do to fix this EGR stuff.

Thanks guys :crybaby2:

Well...here is what i did.

I put the EGR stuff back on.

EGR valve and vacuum lines and the canister purge solenoid i got from salvage yard. I even got the header tube and put it back on. No more CEL light.

Car sounds little different. may be because of my 1.7 rockers and new fuel 255 lph pump i put in? Idles little different then before. More choppy.

I changed the intake manifold and deleted the smog, put 1.7 rockers, and new fuel pump, attempted to delete EGR(FAILED), New harmonic balancer, Bigger throttle body, etc etc

Car runs fine now. I am going to leave the EGR on until i get it tuned.

I am going to install a nitrous kit anyday now so i will need to ask some more questions later. I should wait until i install the kit and get it tuned right?

For those of you who deleted EGR and your car is not tuned and it is running like crap?

PUT THAT EGR STUFF BACK ON. (Only take out smog stuff)

That's my only advice.

Have a good one and thank you all for good advice and knowledge
