need help

ok so im new to this but ive got a 79 mustang that the motor blew in it so i put a 93 f150 5.0 in it and converted it to carb cuz thats wat it was before but it back fires threw the carb i bot a new distributor a new coil n the carb was new. i had had the timing set to 10 degrees cuz thats wat i was told to put at n had it perfect

Non-tuning issue - moved to 5.0 Tech.

Are you sure the timing isn't 180° out of phase?

are you @ t.d.c with the rotor facing #1 on the cap?

yah I took out the spark plug n when it push my finger out of the hole I made sure it was tdc then set the timing to 10degrees n the more advanced I go the smoother it runs so Idk

but it always back fires when u get on the throttle I was wondering if it mite have something to do with the carburator to its a holley 600

What firing order are you using? The truck may be different than what the 79 was. I know a truck is different that what an HO motor is but Idk what 79 used.

im using the Ho firing order for a Stang I just figured all the Ho motors wud have the same firing order

f 150 truck motor isn't an ho motor

man i thot all 302s that were 82 to 93 where well i need to find the firing order for it then

well thanks for telln me that man cuz thats the same firing order as the 79 motor! im guna try it n c what i get

1994 and eariler 302 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 1995 and later 302 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

im also lookin to put gt ground effects from the 87 to 93 years on my 79 ive got the gt front bumper on it im jus wondering if it wud all fit? i also tore out my dash n put a dash from a 1990 in it n ive gota upgrade everthing on it cuz it used to be a 4cyl where wud be a gud place to get all the suspension n rear end n all that?

i jus wana say thanks for all the help cuz im new with all this n ive always wanted a mustang n with it notworkin riteits kinda hard cuzi live with a chevy fan nim always getn **** for my stang so im hopin this will fix the problem thanks so much!

almost forgot if your using a different distributor in the "93" motor make sure the distributor gear is the same

I got it goin it ran awesome it had power like crazy but then my starter went out on me n Idk if my battery is goin bad or my alternator is goin out im thinkn of looking for a newer Stang to

if I take the positive cable off the battery shudnt my Stang keep running off the alternator or is it the ground I take off to c if it stays running?
