so my filler neck gromet its shot so gas is leaking out..my question is my tank is full and ned to get it down to at least half so i can change the gromet. is it ok to drive the car like this with gas leaking out slightly...my main concern is it getting on a hot tailpipe while driving....

Yes it's fine, or it was for me anyway. I drove mine for over a month, and as long as it isn't full, it doesn't leak very much anyway. But I'd replace it soon as I could. And it really isn't hard to do. Took me about an hour, and it was my first time. Search this site and I know there is one good thread about it, with part numbers and good instructions and all.
