ok guys here's the story. i have a 1998 gt. i bought a 1997 cobra motor from my teacher at wyotech. i put the motor in, used my trans, used the cobra wiring harness. now the problem is, the cobra computer wont let my car start (the theft light blinks) so i put the gt computer back in and it runs like crap, but it runs. so my question is, for the cobra computer, would i have to buy the sct chip (my school has the tuning software) and disable the theft system and it should work then? or should i fully tune my gt computer to work good with the cobra motor. (i think it runs like crap with the gt computer because the spark timing and fuel mapping is different for the 2 motors. please someone give me advice soon i need major help i have to drive my car home next week when i graduate and my car needs to be out of the shop by wednseday. thanks guys

I think you have to take it to Ford to get it done. But I could be wrong.

Im pretty sure ford is the only one who can override the theft system, but im not sure. I think you should just use the gt computer and give it a new tune. I would go with a hand held sct tuner if your schools software supports them. They have some data logging features that might be helpful if you have to tune it yourself. Nice swap!

you should be able to re-flash the computer with a x cal and turn off the pats. I know my sniper software allows me to turn it off.

Well the GT computer is set up for 19# injectors while the 4V uses 24's. COuld also be other differences in tunes that would make it run like crap.

Ford is the ony one that can mess with PATS and disable it.

well you could always wire a remote start bypass to acc so its on whenever the car is started, bypassing the pats. rather than the remote starter giving it power only when remote starting.
