Need some quick help! please come in

Ok, my car has had a weird headlight problem for the past month. At first, the headlights would not come on, but if I went to High beam, then back to low they would work. That was fine, untill tonight. I was driving home from work and the lights stopped working. High beam and low beam are both non-working. I can HOWEVER, hold the lever back and have high beams. So that is what I did through downtown Indianapolis

Anyways, I read on a tech form that its probably the multifunction switch and/or fusible links. It can't be the headlight/foglamp relay in the dash because I replaced that a year ago with a different headlight problem (lights would flicker when foglights turned on)

So basically, I want to know what the real name for this multifunction switch is and where its located. I have a 24hour autozone down the road so hopefully I can get this fixed tonight.


if anyone knows what the price would be please let me know that too.

I had to replace the harness behind the switch, having the fogs really burns it up, two of my connectors were melted!! I got it from ford. Fixed my problem, exact thing as yours.

lol last year when the buick was down I had to drive the mustang to school in the morning around 6:45, sun was almost coming up, still pretty dark, but I was driving with just mt parking lights and I see this yellow stang 99-04 pull up next to me, I guess he thought he was cool so he switched his lights from low beams to parking lights only and was like nice huh...

lol and itwas a v6, I thought it was funny lol

I am pretty sure it was one whole harness for multiswitch lights and all, can't really remember, dad did most of it.

i had the same probly turned out theres a orange wire that hooks into a plug in that plugs into the dimmer switch , the orange wire was unpluged or came out somehow. Just take apart ur steering coloum and pop off your dimmer and check all wires to make sure there in the places right, then give it a try man..

I have pulled out the mutlifuntion switch and can see no melted wires...

I have an extra switch at my fathers house from an 86GT. The drive is a little over an hour. Will this fit and would it be worth my time?

Where could I obtain one of these switches TODAY!?!? I have to make a drive to muncie from Indianapolis tonight after I get out of class. (1 hour 15 minutes)

Right now im just driving with the lever pulled back... wonder if im doing damage that way.

BTW, I already suspected the multi switch and checked the local autozone for the part, they pulled out something with a hazard switch on it, which couldnt be right since my hazards are located in a different place. I didn't buy it.. but the computer listed different part numbers for the switch for my 89 than they did the 90. are these different? Another autozone across town has the 90 in stock, should I try that?
