need some quick help plsssssssss

okay im new to the forum , and never knew it existed till today after getting home from work and taking my car to the shop, and i dont wana be one of them people that just show up for help and leave im actually happy to now know there is a mustang board where people discuss everything about mustangs
ok ok i'll get to my problem lol....
Here is what is going on ..i was getting in my car (96 MUSTANG) and my check engine light jus went off after my first day at my new job (what a way to start the week and work ) so i take it to the ford shop so they can check it out and they come back saying its a purge sensor and purge solenoid ..sad thing is i have no clue as to what these things are...so is there anyone well i knoew you all know but will anyone be willing to help out ? i mean provide any info as to what to do ? i know replace them but can i do it or is it best for a shop to do it for about 300.00

thx for the welcome zincyellow ...hey have u ever heard of the purge solenoid at all?

by the way, I had the same problem(almost) just go to AUTOZONE and ask for the scanner it`s free, just plug it in and it`ll give you the codes about what`s wrong-I disconnected the negative battery and it seems to be ok now, no lite

Good luck and go to AUTOZONE, then check the last site in thread #2 there`s a site for the codes, it`ll tell you what it is
