I drive a 2002 GT, manual.

So far I have : Intake, Mufflers, and a short throw shifter.

I have about 400-500$ to spend, what would you guys suggest?

I'm thinking plenum + TB ?

Also, I'm a noob when it comes to the engine programmers, are there any good articles on those?

If you look around youll find that you can get a T/B and plenum, plus a midpipe for right around 400 bucks.

Most people are going to tell you to get gears now though.

yes we are 4.10's and a speedcal or tuner (but this is more expensive), but a mid pipe would also be a good mod with a TB and plenum 75mm on both

+1 for 4.10's. From what I hear, gears will give you a much more noticeable difference than any other similarly priced mod.

Pick up a UPR X-Pipe for 150 shipped and spend the other 350 on gears and save a tiny bit more for install and you'll love the new sound and gained speed

Yup... 220 for a Professional Products 75mm TB and ported plenum, polished as well. About 160 or so for a decent mid-pipe, add shipping in and thats right around 400 bucks. Or if you know where to look, take off shipping on the plenum and TB, possibly the midpipe aswell. So under 400.

The only way your gonna get a mid pipe for under 300 is to go with an O/R pipe and those are pretty loud, maybe thats what you want just letting you know...

Yup... Personally I dont see any point in getting a midpipe if your getting another catted one, especially because of the fact that they are usually above 300-350 bucks!!!

You will get a good gain from a X pipe.
Get a Bassani X pipe you won't regret it.

I went catted because I think x-pipes perform better, but I don't like the sound of o/r x's, and I think my magnaflow setup sounds pretty bad ass.
