Need some suggestions

Hey fella's and gals, Im new in here and i have a 89 GT, i am mostly stock right now but before i go buying tons of parts i have some quesitons and would like some feedback on what you guys think.
So far i have bought the FRPP super sport springs (650 front/400ish back) and i have all new struts and shocks. I have 17'' white Cobra R's to match and a Cobra R/SVO hood.
For the motor i was planning on buying the Trick Flow top end kit. Comes with the Twisted heads, cam, upper and lower and roller rockers. Its the best i've seen and heard about for the price and i've been doing a TON of research. I am a college kid, and i play a D1 sport so time and money isnt obviously easy to come by. I also am getting 373's for the rear of course. I am plannig on the american thunder, though i have had nothing but compliments on my current exhaust. This is the beginning and i wanna make sure i've a got a great base. I just completely rebuild the motor last summer (bro-in law is a master ford mechanic which is obviously a nice help. What else or any changes would you go with. I am all ears...

i've had a lot of success with the trick flow setup, when i bought it, they didn't have a whole top end kit. i used the track heat heads and intake and a different cam. they seem to work great of the stock bottom end and block. i also used trickflow 10:1 pistons. this past season i ported the heads, got a larger cam and made 347hp/354tq at the wheel all motor, compression was raised to 11:1. i would reccommed the tfs parts, they were reliable, looked good, and seem to be very good quality parts. the track heat heads are a twisted wedge head but it has better hardware, studs, and valve springs to handle higher lift. the track heat intake will provide a higher power band than the street heat. depending on your budget, either choice of a kit will make a big difference in performance. also if the budget allows, get the other usual bolt-ons, cold air, mass air sensor, throttle body. and maybe some shorty headers if you don't already have them.

what year is ur stang....i was thinking about pistons but while rebuilding my motor i found out an interesting fact. In 88 and 89 only for some reason, Ford used TRW racing pistons, flycut, forged units. so i wasnt positive if i should bother. but thanks for the input

Lol...sounds like your brother in-law mechanic doesn't know it all...

In our body style (87-93) they all had "racing pistons" the valve reliefs (flycut)...and the 87-92's had forged pistons stock...nothing special about the pistons...they are what they are...the 93 pistons were hypereutic pistons which were lighter pistons...

Good Luck with your choices...a catback wont' give you much of a gain...just sound...the trickflow package is a good bang for the buck that comes with most of the things you need...your going to want bigger injectors (24 or 30lb) matched with a bigger Mass Air Flow Sensor that are calibrated for the bigger injectors...a bigger throttle body (65mm or 70mm) to keep the power up...an adjustable fuel pressure regulator...to help tune it... a bigger fuel pump would be good to (155lph or bigger)...
