ok, to start off i have a bolt on automatic GT that i had always planned on leaving a bolt on car because i have a fox body i want to start playing with. I have gotten really attached to the GT and have decided that i wan to make it faster too...im the slowest one out of everyone i hang out with(brother has an 03 cobra, buddies with twin turbo 98 cobra, a nasty evo 8, and a friend with a procharged trans am etc etc). well i dont know what to do...i wanna go forced induction with either a procharger or turbo set up...either way its going to be cammed and im going to need a stall and a stronger tranny or a manual...which power adder should i get and which tranny idea should i go with and what whould be an automatic you guys would recomend. and also since im going to be building the motor, what intake chould i go with....i dont wanna blow through the plastic and deffinitly not spry through it...just sounds like a bad idea....any help and ideas from you guys would be helpful... thanks

A good tune and a careful driver and you shouldn't have to worry about blowing the intake. But there are some options out there if you want to replace it. If I had my choice I'd find a Bullitt intake but there are other one equally as good.

You are up against some steep competition and honestly it will cost to catch up. Cost wise a supercharger is the way to go...and even bump up to a Kenne Bell. That would take care of your power adder and intake problem all in one. A good tune and you should be OK to about 400 HP. After that you would need to get into the engine. A good blower cam should suffice if you want to dig into the heads.

im wanting to just skip stage 1 all together and build the engine and get ready for higher boost even if i dont start out with much...my main concern is the transmission...i dont mind an automatic but kinda want a manual...is there any good automatics youd recomend or should i just go with a tko or something? i also cant find a good stall that i would trust if i stayed with the automatic id want a 3200 or so...

I would go with a tko. you can get a clutch pedal assy from a wrecked gt. it wont cost you much more then a built auto.

I would go with either vortech/paxton or kb. as i dont really like pro charger much. it is gona cost you some seriouse scratch to catch up to that crowd. I would look into a built shortblock from either livernois, mph, or foxlake with some ported heads and cams.

You should be fine with the stock auto for quite a while. I was running DEEP into the 11s before I even touched mine. I would do a tranny cooler an leave it at that for now and start building up the motor.

As for the intake unless you really start making a crazy amount of boost and start spraying it it should be fine too. I'm making over 14lbs and its held up fine for me and IF I keep my car this year I'm planing on spraying it.

Ha sounds like me. I have a 5.0, a silver GT and all my friend's kick my ass in their faster cars.

In the end i decided to leave it alone. By the time i was done soaking money into the car to make it faster, i could have bought a terminator or built a nasty driveline in my Fox.

SO...i just did shifter, exhaust and brakes and called it a day. Meanwhile i'm searching for an '04 Cobra driveline for my 5.0

I put a P&A street/strip valve body in my auto. I also installed a deep trans pan, a trans cooler, and an edge racing 3200 stall converter. If I had to do it again, I would have just bought the whole trans set up from P&A. The valve body is not really for the street. It only likes WOT. In town it sucks.

If this is just a street driver it would be more fun with a 5 speed in it.

umm i have both the sn95 and a 89 fox. but i found it easier cheaper to build the fox. ive spent 5 grand and have a car that runs 7.6s on mickey tomphson e/t street tires in the 1/8. but its all personal prefrence, its a 306 with afr heads, comp cams extreme energy cam, trple spring valve springs, forged bottom end, barry gant 850 carb, and a 225 shot for now, w/o the bottle it made 551.4hp and 532tq at the flywheel. mated to a c4 built by a local shop, and a 3200 stall, yea i think it runs pretty good.

i gotta a geo for my daily driver and my plans were to make both cars nasty while im still young and living at home...so i think for now im gonna get the fox going and make it fast....i was thinking maybe a 331, the gt 40x turbo swirl heads, E cam, Cobra intake?, and some spray for now...then later when i get the money throw on a blower...and shortly after...some stage 3 heads and cams for the GT and a stall...what do you guys know about the trick flow kits and how they work with blowers on the 5.0 cars...and how do you think the 5.0 will run with the setup im planning on?
