shopping for a new transmission for my 97 cobra, and it has to be able to take 500-600 lbs of abuse...

which way should I go? Is it easy to swap in an automatic?

What kind of engine are you using? I don't know to much of the tech behind a tranny swap but it can be done. The only bad thing about the C4 trans if this is your DD then you will spend a lot of time at higher RPM's.

Performance Automatic does make and AODE Super Comp (that will keeps RPM's low so you can drive it daily) that they clam will handle up to 800HP, but I have heard that it really does not hold up well under high horsepower applications and that PA needs to iron out a few things with it.

I've heard that the Lentech auto tranny is very good, but I don't know much about auto trannies.

the t56 is a lot of money but if you want to stay with a 5 speed id say a tko600 :damnit:
