Did anyone see that the new Edelbrock Cleveland heads are going to be available? Supposedly later this month. The ad is a little strange, IMO. They used a real odd stroker size. Somewhat deceptive. I wish they had run a 0.030" over 351 with stock stroke. I'd also like to see what intake, cam, etc. were used.

They are pretty cheap, I think $910 from Summit.

I was thinking CHI before, but it's hard to argue with 1/2 price. Substantially cheaper than Powerheads reworked Aussie 302C heads as well (plus lighter) My convertible shouldn't probably have crazy power anyway. I'll just hurt someone - probably myself. :D

Edit: I just had it pointed out to me that it says QTY 1 in Summit. Now it doesn't seem like a good price any more. Back to thinking CHI is the way to go.

i read in another forum that the heads were delayed (they were supposed to be available in fed/mar) because the originally didn't flow any better than the stock 4V heads and they had to rework them. i'm not really a player for the aluminum heads right now but i've been looking at the CHI and AFD heads. if you want a wild head check out these www.araoengineering.com. the ulitimate 4V head, along with the ultimate price.

with the money you save

buy a roll cage! With those subframe connectors you have planned and a roll cage it should be plenty stiff. Anyway, the 351C, while having a ton of torque I'm sure, is more of a horsepower monster than a torque monster.

$910 is for EACH HEAD. $1800 per PAIR....i have been following these for a few months and they keep getting delayed. sound pricey to me. i am excited that they are actually coming out with these. they just added the power gains recently. i am not sure about the CID that they used, where do you get this combo?

Any new heads meant primarily for the street will not flow as well as the 4V head. The 4V numbers look good, but the ports are too big to give really good off idle throttle response. The 4V ports are so huge that the flow is not the greatest at idle. Flow through an engine is pulses, not a steady stream like a flowmeter. A lot of people fill the 4V ports with epoxy in order to improve the flow velocity. Stock 4V heads like really high RPMs or strokers (more displacement).

That's why CHI and Edelbrock are making 2V style heads rather than 4V. CHI makes 3V and 4V, but those are meant primarily for racing. However, the valves in these new Eddie heads are too small, IMO. They probably shouldn't be 4V size, but 2.05 and 1.60 are tiny for Cleveland valves. I understand that it's about quality, not quantity...

Maybe I'll just have to wait and hope that some people do builds with the Edelbrock heads to get a better comparison.

That's a good idea, not sure I want to put a cage in my 'vert. Maybe a roll bar for safety. Who knows, I seem to change my mind daily.

Edelbrock has been known to advertise something, then wait for orders to come in before actually having it....

If the retailer doesnt have any sitting on his shelf, or in his hands while you are on the phone... I would hold on to your money untill they do.

Just f.y.i.

just buy this one:

if this is for real. :hail2: "built for use with nitrous".
I already have a Cleveland, but not the money to build it unfortunately. :(

Hopefully in the next couple years I'll get my $%^( together and move forward with something. I mainly wanted to get other people's thoughts on the heads, but of course there's not too much to say until the heads are used in some builds. :)
