So after owning a clean '93 Fox 5.0 for 5 years, I've decided to join the 4.6L ranks with a 2000 GT. I must say that after driving it only the little bit that I have, I'm quite impressed with the power it has in stock form. I really like how it feels thus far. I've only driven it a little bit today to get inspection done and I have a few more things I need to do but so far I really like the car.

I've attached a pic of the two cars nose to nose. They are both in very nice/clean condition. I've put a great deal into the FOX as it was my "muscular" driver until the '00. Initially I was going to sell the '93, but I'm now thinking otherwise. I don't necessarily need the money from it right now, and the longer I hold onto it, the higher value it will be. I'll keep it for cruise nights, car shows and the like..... It does turn a lot of heads and it does pretty well in the local car shows.

Anyhow, since I used to spend all my time in the 5.0 forums I figured I should come over and give the to all the "fellow" 4.6 guys.

Welcome Aboard and welcome to the club! :SNSign:
I must say that black looks sick I like it.
Their is alot of mods you can do with your new 00 GT.
I would start with a nice Magnaflow Magnapack catback.

Thank you all! :SNSign:

Basically I havn't driven the '00 much. I was late to the DMV today and they had closed so I don't have tags yet, but I have driven the car around a little now for the last couple days.

Thus far I very much like the feel of the car. It offers a lot of "Seat of the Pants" feel and yet its a nice smooth car. I won't be doing much to the car in terms of mods. Though I do have a chin spoiler and stainless bumper inserts coming. Other than a few cosmetic upgrades I'll only be doing the typical exhaust upgrades.

Its funny because years ago when I was growing up and through school a 5.0 FOX was the car to have. It was the performance machine. Later, yes the Camaro was faster, but a 5.0 was still the Icon. I honestly feel like the 5.0 rose to some sort of mystical level. Maybe not as mystical as a HEMI, but a pretty highly touted car. When I drive that car, people either want to own it or race against it. Now I've grown very fond of that car with all the sweat and blood put into it I've really become attached to it.

Now that I own both though and when I tell people or show them the '00. Some ask if its a 5.0 or a 4.6. When I tell them its the 4.6, they actually sigh as if its some kind of let down. Many, not in the know, actually think a stock 5.0 is faster than the newer 4.6. I feel that, in terms of public perception, the 4.6PI is underrated and the 5.0 is far overrated compared to actual reality.

My 5.0 is modded a bit and thus is faster than the '00, but these PI 4.6 cars are no slouch IMO. Do many of you get similar reactions from people in the area of "4.6 vs. 5.0"

A 5.0 notch with a 5 speed is as fast or faster than a PI 4.6, but thats basically the end of the 5.0 vs PI 4.6 deabate as far as faster stock for stock.

I had a guy ask me if I had a 5.0 under the hood, I told him no it was a 4.6... then he went on about how the 5.0's are so much better than the 4.6's and such. I told him that my stock 4.6 made a bit more power than a stock 5.0, and he totally disregaurded that fact and kept ranting on about the 5.0's being supreme.

In some cases I like the 5.0 better, some cases I like the 4.6... I like both engines, if I were to buy another Mustang it would probaly be a 5.0 though... or a 4v 4.6, takes too much $ to make a 2v 4.6 fast.
