Hello everybody. This would be my first post, although I have been looking around the forums for a little while now. I am really interested in buying a foxbody to fix up a little and make into a fun little streetcar. I am currently in highschool and just landed a job that pays $8.50 an hour. Now that track is done and school is just about out, I can start working and saving up money. I have always loved the looks of the Foxbody Mustang and now that money is permiting it, I want to buy one. So, I have a few questions....
1) I am currently looking at an '88 LX 5.0L. The engine has 190,xxx miles on it. I wouldn't mind doing a rebuild on it down the road a little, but how much longer should this engine last given it was treated properly?
2) What kind of gas mileage should I expect from the 5.0?
3) Any common problems I should check out when looking over a fox that I'd like to buy?
4) How hard/easy are these cars to work on? My other vehicle is a '96 Jeep Cherokee that I put a lift on along with some other modifications... So I do have some mechanical ability.
