Has anyone that has the C&L air filter or similiar set up replaced it yet or did you just clean it ? I ask this because the one I have looks like its gettin a little dirty. It has about 10,000 miles on it.
If you have used a cleaner which do you recommend ? or do you do what I have done in the past and just buy a new one ? which brand did you go with ? Thanks.

Replacement Filter Element, C&L CAI

I asked C&L about a replacement filter; they sell them for $40 + shipping.

Or you can use the K&N cleaning/re-oiling kit which is available at Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. Just be carefull not to over do the re-oiling since that can royally screw-up your MAF sensor.

That's my fear is the reoiling. It almost sounds safer just forking over the $40 for the new filter. I may wait another 5,000 miles beforer getting a new one.

K&N Type filters

I have been cleaning & re-oiling K&N's for years on several cars and have never had a problem. I don't touch mine until at least 50,000 miles. K&N says 50,000 to 100,000 miles. JUST DON'T OVER OIL THEM! Just my $.02 worth.
