new alternator, new battery... still battery light??

I put in a new alternator about 3 months ago (never had battery light before), about 1.5 months ago the battery light came on and stayed on. Today I put a brand new Optima Red Top battery hoping it would fix the light. But unfortunetly it didn't Could it be some of the cables or the computer?? Any suggestions?

I had the same problem as you except my car would die. I ended up founding out it was the voltage regulator in the alternator and I had just bought a new alternator and optima red top. I was so pissed. All I did was take the alternator back and getting another new one.

It may be a wiring or computer problem, but I wouldnt think so. Its not unheard of to get a bad alt. from the store. I would say take it off and take it back because its most likely the cause. Good luck!

thx for the info, i'll be takin my alternator back tomorow and hopefully it'll work.
